Background: My background has covered a wide range of services from: family, child, adolescent, and addiction. Before coming to Renz, I was the Clinical Director at Stonybrook Center in Wheaton, IL.
Licenses, Certifications & Specialized Training:
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with the state of Illinois. My specialized areas include, alcohol and drug dependency and experience working with medication assisted treatment, in outpatient settings. I am also a certified SMART Recovery facilitator.
Professional Interests/Specialties:
My professional interests and specialties include: Drug and alcohol program development that fit the needs of the community.
What you enjoy about working as a clinician:
As a clinician, I find it gratifying to be part of a process that involves people improving their life by making positive changes, outside of their comfort level, in areas that they struggled in the past.
Therapeutic approaches and philosophy for treatment:
My therapeutic approaches are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. My philosophy is to meet the client “where they are at” and find what modality works best for them. An approach that works best for one person, may not work for another. I believe in identifying what motivates people and then setting realistic and achievable goals, within a time frame to produce outcomes. This blue print is a positive shift from maladaptive, self-destructive patterns from the past, and helps people gain confidence by working on their own self-improvement.
