The Training for Intervention ProcedureS (TIPS), is a program that trains employees on the responsible service, sale, and consumption of alcohol. The certified trainer takes a positive approach while promoting the responsible use of alcohol. The TIPS program is the only certification program recognized in all 50 states and complies with all state and local laws. The curriculum uses many formats to promote interactive learning, including discussion, role-play, video and written materials.
TIPS Training helps participants:
— Recognize signs of intoxication
— Spot underage drinkers and prevent sales to minors
— Intervene quickly and assuredly in potential problem situations
— Understand the difference between people enjoying themselves and those getting into trouble with alcohol
— Handle alcohol-related situations with greater confidence
— Use proven strategies to prevent alcohol-related problems
Cost of six hour training is $30-35, depending on the number of people being trained at one time. Certification is valid for three years. Training available in Spanish.
Illinois law (Public Act 99-0046) requiring BASSET certification for servers and thosechecking ID’s for alcohol service in Cook County (effective July 1, 2015) and in surrounding suburban counties (by July 1, 2016).
